The vast majority that would have been under ten weeks old by being sucked apart from within their mother's womb so that their body parts could fit through a tube about the size of a ball point pen. This operation is called a suction abortion.

Those over ten weeks but under eighteen weeks would have been sliced to pieces by a curettage and their skulls crushed to pieces so that their body parts could be extracted from the womb. These operations are commonly known as D & C or D & E depending on the age of the unborn baby or 'tissue' as the medical world call the unwanted unborn.

For those babies over eighteen weeks the procedure is different. There is no operation to remove the baby from the mother's body. The unborn baby's heart is injected with poison so that s/he will die in the womb. The mother can often feel the baby writhing in pain before s/he dies. The mother is then given a drug to expel the baby from her body. The mother basically gives birth to a dead baby. This is called a late abortion.

RU486 is used up to nine weeks of pregnancy. It is a three part procedure where the mother takes a pill in the presence of a doctor or nurse, then goes home. This pill is supposed to kill the baby in the womb. A couple of days later the mother returns to the doctor or nurse to receive a second pill that is then supposed to expel the baby from the womb. The mother needs to make a third visit to be examined to confirm the 'contents of the womb' are no longer there. The mother may need a D & C operation to remove any body parts that may have not been expelled. However, the baby could be expelled from the womb anytime after the first pill, which means the mother could be alone, or even on a bus or out shopping when this happens. This is not a pain free experience.

The Morning After Pill is supposed to be taken within 72 hours of sexual intercourse having taken place and if the girl or woman thinks she may become pregnant. &nsbp;She may have had unprotected sex (no condom), or the condom could have split or leaked. The Morning After Pill works in the same three ways as oral contraception (the Pill), or other contraceptives such as implants and Depo-Provera, but is of a much higher concentration of the drugs.

It prevents a newly conceived human from implanting into the womb. It is not a fertilised egg as by this stage the unborn child is alreay about 5-6 days old.

In 1990 the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) became law. Since that time human embryos have been allowed to be created from eggs donated by mothers-to-be who wished to avail themselves of such technology that might enable them to become pregnant themselves. IVF has been the major medical procedure sought by these women, but this procedure in itself destroys more embryos that are born. As technology and research has advanced more and more unborn embryos are created in the laboratories, experimented on and then destroyed. Another way that scientists obtain eggs to use in experimentation is to harvest them from the aborted remains of female babies. Even stem cell technology uses human embryo stem cells in many procedures.

As has been stated above regarding the Morning After Pill, most forms of contraception also are ways that the unborn baby could be destroyed, including the coil which prevents the unborn child from implanting in the womb.
